Hoi An's hidden omakase gem earns a Certificate of Excellence for authentic Japanese cuisine, handcrafted sushi, and an unforgettable dining experience in the heart of the Old Quarter.
THE NEWS
Temari Hoi An has been awarded the Restaurant Guru 2026 Certificate of Excellence and officially ranked among the Top 100 Best Sushi Restaurants in Vietnam.
Restaurant Guru is a globally trusted dining discovery platform. Its annual awards are based on verified guest reviews and culinary standards - making this recognition a direct reflection of the experiences Temari delivers every day.
For a small, intimate restaurant tucked inside a private alley in Hoi An's Old Quarter, this award is a significant milestone.

WHO IS TEMARI HOI AN?
Temari Hoi An is a Japanese omakase and sushi restaurant at 02/22 Lê Lợi, Phường Minh An, Hội An - hidden inside a quiet alley steps away from the UNESCO-listed Old Quarter.
The restaurant seats approximately 35 guests, with an open kitchen and bar on the ground floor where diners can watch the culinary team at work. Private dining options are also available for special occasions.
Temari is open daily from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM, closed on Tuesdays. Reservations are strongly recommended.
THE CHEF: CHIZURU AND THE KOBE PHILOSOPHY
Behind Temari is Chef Chizuru, whose cooking is rooted in Kobe - a historic Japanese port city with a uniquely rich and cosmopolitan food culture.
Chef Chizuru began her career as a culinary specialist for professional food photography. Over time, she developed her own style: Kobe home cooking - a philosophy that is deeply traditional, quietly creative, and uncompromising in ingredient quality.
Kobe's identity as a trading port means its food culture absorbed diverse international influences over centuries. That openness to the world, combined with Japanese precision, is exactly what defines the Temari menu.
THE FOOD: WHAT TO EXPECT AT TEMARI
Temari's menu is built around three core principles: fresh local sourcing, premium Japanese imports, and meticulous preparation.
Fish is sourced daily from the Quang Nam fish market. Ingredients are also flown in from Japan and Norway. Seasonings come directly from Kyoto and Kobe.
Signature dishes include:
Japanese bluefin tuna sashimi tossed in wasabi olive oil
Yellowtail carpaccio with yuzu paste and julienned radish
Salmon carpaccio with cream cheese, avocado, and toasted almonds
Classic nigiri assortments featuring bluefin tuna, yellowtail, broiled salmon, salmon roe, and mantis shrimp
Kobe-style pan-fried gyoza, crispy karaage chicken, and potato croquettes
The menu spans sashimi, nigiri, handcrafted rolls, Japanese rice bowls, and small Kobe-style plates - offering something for every type of diner.
THE OMAKASE EXPERIENCE
Omakase is the heart of Temari. Two curated menus are available in 2026:
OMAKASE WITH NIGIRI - 950,000 VND per person (tax included)
Kobe-style starters (pan-fried gyoza, crispy karaage)
Chef's signature sashimi creations
Traditional nigiri assortment: bluefin tuna, yellowtail, broiled salmon, salmon roe, mantis shrimp
Chopped salmon thin roll and Kobe-style miso soup
Dessert: sautéed apple with honey butter and dark chocolate crumble, or yuzu sherbet
OMAKASE WITH ROLLS - 750,000 VND per person (tax included)
Kobe-style starters
Chef's signature sashimi creations
Choice of one signature thick roll: double salmon, spicy tuna, or avocado cream cheese
Chopped salmon thin roll and Kobe-style miso soup
Dessert: sautéed apple with honey butter and dark chocolate crumble, or yuzu sherbet
Both menus are chef-led, seasonal, and designed to give guests the full Temari experience from start to finish.
DRINKS: A JAPANESE-FOCUSED BEVERAGE PROGRAMME
The drink menu at Temari is designed to complement Japanese food - not overshadow it.
Sake is the centrepiece, with a wide selection of Junmai Shu and Junmai Daiginjo available in small bottles - ideal for guests who want to explore different styles across the meal. Sparkling sake is a popular starting point.
Beyond sake, the menu includes:
Shochu and Japanese plum wine
Japanese craft gin "Roku" served as gin fizz or gin tonic
Yuzu wine, local craft beer, and a curated wine list
Exclusive Japanese tea blends developed specifically for Temari
The teas are a particularly thoughtful touch - quiet, refined, and a perfect pairing for delicate sushi flavours.
WHY GUESTS KEEP COMING BACK
Temari draws guests from across Vietnam and around the world - many of whom visit Hoi An specifically to dine here.
What they consistently highlight:
The exceptional freshness of the sushi and sashimi
The refined, balanced Japanese flavours that feel genuinely authentic
The warm, attentive service that makes every visit feel personal
The intimate atmosphere of the hidden-alley setting
It is this consistency - across every dish, every visit, every guest - that earned Temari the Restaurant Guru 2026 Certificate of Excellence.
